Editorial Policy

Random Verse Now organizes Scripture to support discovery, careful reading, and reflection. We do not present randomly selected verses as prophecy, guaranteed personal direction, or a replacement for reading the surrounding passage.

Scripture selection

Topic collections begin as structured candidate mappings. A candidate must reference a valid World English Bible verse ID and a working chapter-context URL. Automated checks catch missing verses, duplicate IDs, invalid related topics, excessive overlap, and missing safety notices, but automation does not replace editorial judgment.

Draft and review status

Introductions, reflections, questions, practical prompts, passage selections, and safety claims begin as candidates and remain excluded from search indexing until the applicable collection receives final review. The current P0 topic mappings, topic copy, inspiring pool, curated passages, annual daily schedule, and five limited Western/Gregorian calendar overrides have completed their documented review gates. Approved collections retain internal review records and are reopened for review when substantive content changes.

Approval is not permanent permission to ignore later evidence. A substantive correction, changed verse assignment, revised safety claim, or stale review source reopens the affected content for review. Automated validation rejects missing or inconsistent approval records, while the editorial decision remains a human responsibility.

Interpretation and context

We aim to distinguish the biblical text from our explanatory copy, encourage readers to open the complete chapter, and avoid declaring one denominational interpretation universally settled where faithful traditions differ. Editorial notes should not silently add words to, shorten, or paraphrase a displayed Scripture quotation.

Health and safety

Pages involving anxiety, grief, and healing include a support notice. Scripture offered for encouragement is not medical or mental-health advice. We do not claim that a verse will cure symptoms, blame distress on weak faith, or advise anyone to stop medication or professional care.

Corrections

Reports should identify the page URL, quoted text or verse reference, the concern, and—when possible—a reliable source that helps us verify it. We preserve the existing wording while a report is assessed unless leaving it visible presents a clear safety risk.
